Sam Shepard Gets Even More Beckettian, and Other Culture Highlights From This Week’s ‘New York’
In this week's summery issue of New York, Boris Kachka profiles Sam Shepard, whose Kicking a Dead Horse premieres at the Public Theater, and discovers a man who's becoming more and more like his hero Samuel Beckett, right down to the crags in his forehead. Another artist easing gently into his later years: Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who's become a director with Gunnin' For That #1 Spot. There's plenty more hip-hop in this week's issue, too, with intriguingly paired profiles of Nas and Gil Scott-Heron. The co-star of this summer's The Wackness, Olivia Thirlby, talks about why directors always want her to get stoned, and Alex McCord of The Real Housewives of New York talks about how much she likes herself. The death of George Carlin makes our timeline of televised profanity even more relevant, and the art world is cursing about Christie's moving into the gallery business. David Edelstein praises Wanted's "irresistible summer-movie allure," and Jeremy McCarter wishes that Hamlet in the Park found a little more of Shakespeare's humor. And Romany Malco is proud, very proud, of his post-hockey booty.

Audio Bullys revamp punk
exclusive first look at the video.
Electronic rockers SIMON FRANKS and TOM DINSDALE reached No.3
back in 2005 with Shot You Down, their hit which samples the NANCY SINATRA
version of Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down).
To see the boys in action, see our video below:
The quirky vid for Gimme That Punk was directed by DON LETTS, better
known for his work in the 70s punk scene with THE CLASH and THE
SEX PISTOLS.
It references ultra-cool bands of the era, including THE DOORS, THE
KINKS and THE ROLLING STONES.
It may be KYLIE's birthday, but celebrate by catching the dancey duo on
one of their tour dates this summer.

Zac Efron in Me and Orson Welles
Based on a novel by Robert Kaplow, the film is set in 1937. The director of 'A Scanner Darkly' has cast the pre-teen idol as a student living in New York, who strolls into the legendary Mercury Theatre founded by Orson Welles.
Once there he gets cast in Welles' production of 'Julius Caesar' and spends a week learning from the legend.
The Hollywood Reporter also reveals that Christian McKay has been cast as Welles, with Ben Chaplain set to play the actor George Coulouris.
Rapper The Game begins jail sentence
Twenty-eight-year-old Taylor surrendered to authorities at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, according to the Deputy of the Sheriff's Bureau, Oscar Butao.
On 11 February, the rapper was sentenced in Los Angeles County Superior Court to serve 60 days in a county jail, 150 hours of community service and three years' probation.
He had been charged with possession of a firearm near a school and pleaded no contest to the felony, Butao said.

Coldplay nearly finished new album
Billboard.com reports that Coldplay began work on the album in November 2006 and have been collaborating with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs.
They plan to release the album in the early summer through longtime label EMI.
Speaking to Billboard.com about the album, the band's manager, Dave Holmes, said: "We're just about finished. They're in the final mixing. They'll start mastering, and away we go."
"They've really delivered. It's a fantastic record. They've really put the work in," he said.
Holmes said the album "definitely takes them in some different directions".
"I'm not a music critic, but it's certainly a progression, with some really great songwriting," he said.
Sylvester Stallone - Stallone To Release Rambo Cut For Burmese People
SYLVESTER STALLONE is releasing a special director's cut DVD of RAMBO to raise money for the victims of war-torn Burma.
The movie was in production in the poverty-stricken south-east Asian country in 2006, when the military junta began carrying out attacks on monks protesting the current regime. It was the latest in a series of violent events in a country torn apart by civil war for decades.
Stallone witnessed first hand the plight of the people of Burma - and he is determined to give something back.
He reveals, "It'll be called John Rambo, the original title. It's going to be an extended director's cut and I want to give every dime to the Burmese."
